Jamaa Original Acrylic Textured Painting

Using impasto painting techniques I texturally wanted to explore unusual shadows across the face as well as an unconventional palette. My inspiration for colour is drawn from bold African textile and print where colours that ought to clash work incredibly well together. The inclusion of a contemporary neon yellow adds an element of surprise - an unusual choice in portraiture that brings a fresh, energetic tension to the work.
