The piece serves as a visual meditation on the dual nature of leadership, honouring the historical reality that African rulers often wore elaborate headdresses that functioned simultaneously as grand symbols of temporal authority and sacred conduits to powerful ancestors.

While spiritual headdresses dominate much of the continent's history, the artwork firmly embraces the distinct tradition of royal crowns. The design draws powerful inspiration from the monumental regalia of ancient Egypt and the intricate, symbolic metalwork of West African kingdoms (such as the Yoruba and Benin empires). By fusing the structural geometry of Pharaonic crowns with the rich textures and ancestral symbolism found in West African royal attire, the piece crafts a timeless vision of kingship.
